31st Annual JMM Boys Alumni Meet - Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Dust off that Speedo and find your goggles... The 31st Annual JMM Boys Alumni Meet will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009 at the friendly confines of Madison Memorial pool. Here are the important times: WARMUPS: 4:30 PM PARADE OF ALUMNI: 5:30 PM MEET STARTS: ~5:45 PM POST-MEET CELEBRATION (@ Gammon Road Nitty Gritty): 7:30 PM Remember that the earlier you can arrive at the meet, the more time Bill has to put together our winning line-up. After our victory, we will celebrate at the Nitty Gritty (off of Gammon Road towards Middleton) Happy Holidays to everyone and hopefully we will see many of you on the 23rd!!

Memorial Girls Plus 49 Points to Place Fifth

November 15, 2009- The Memorial Girls were seeded to take sixth place going into the 2009 WIAA Girls State meet but instead plussed an impressive 49 points to move up to fifth. The team's 200 Medley Relay (Jackie Powell, Kayce Smith, Mae Bretl, Mary Van Leuven) moved up from tenth to place fourth in an All-American time of 1:48.98. In the 200 Freestyle, Jackie Powell moved up from fourth to win her second straight 200 Freestyle title with a time of 1:49.90. In the 200 IM, Kayce Smith and Hannah Lucas placed in the top 16 with eighth and thirteenth place finishes, respectively. Mary Van Leuven swam a 24.81 in the 50 Free to finsh fifteenth. Jackie won her second state title of the meet in grand fashion by moving up from a tenth place seed in the second heat to win the event with a 50.82. Cati Beecher scored in the 500 Free, placing twelveth with a lifetime best of 5:08.10. Memorial's 200 Free Relay (Mary Van Leuven, Alissa Endres, Annie Abraham, Kayce Smith) posted an All-American time, finishing sixth. Kayce Smith followed up her eighth place finish in the IM with an eighth place finish in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.02. Madison Memorial's 400 Freestyle Relay team of Hannah Lucas, Alissa Endres, Cati Beecher and Jackie Powell posted another All-American time moving up from sixth to place fourth with a time of 3:32.60. Memorial Boys Capture Tenth State Title

February 21, 2009 - The Madison Memorial boys swim team capped off an undefeated season by capturing the school's tenth state championship. Nate Broadbridge got the meet off to an outstanding start with a 2d place finish in diving. The 200 Medley Relay, the team of Kyle Challis, Shaun Marcott, Ben Anderson and Broadbridge followed that up by finishing a strong fourth. Michael Drives victory in the 200 free was the most impressive performance of the meet. His time of 1:38.02 eclipsed the state record by 1.3 seconds and broke the UW-Natatorium pool record established by Olympic medalist, Peter Vanderkaay. Freshman, Patrick Franken had a significant time drop to move up to 9th in the 200 IM while Jake Schneider finished tied for 9th and Anderson finished 16th in the 50 free. Challis finished 14th in the 100 fly while Schneider placed 15th in the 100 free. In the 500 free, Franken moved up to 12th while Drives was significantly under the previous state record with his runner up finish in the 500 free. The 200 Free relay of Anderson, Broadbridge, Schneider and Drives beat the previous state record held by Memorial captured the bronze. Challis had fantastic performance in the 100 back moving up to a tie for fourth. Senior, Shaun Marcott, finished his high school career in impressive fashion with an 8th place finish in the 100 breast. Finally, the 400 free relay of Schneider, Challis, Michael Salerno and Drives brought home a 4th place finish to secure the victory. Congratulations State Champion Spartan Boys.
